Draft Scope of Work for Memphis District History Exhibit Project

1 Scope of Work

1.1 Curation Services. Contractor will provide curation advice on content (text, photos, drawings, images, maps, graphics, and accompanying label text) selected by the Memphis District for inclusion in approximately 15 – 30 chronological and thematic history hallway wall exhibits.

1.2 Exhibit Design. The contractor will use good design principles and best practices to create an attractive design that’s consistent throughout the approximately 15 – 30 chronological and thematic history hallway wall exhibits.

1.2.1 Contractor shall design exhibits and prepare a design package and digital production files to be used in the fabrication and installation of the exhibits. The design package and the digital files shall include all drawings, specifications and digital files necessary to fabricate and install the exhibit.

1.2.2 Design Package: Contractor is required to produce a drawing package that contains at a minimum:

1.2.2.1 Cover Sheet that identifies the site, project location, date of submission and table of contents.

1.2.2.2 Floor plan of the facility showing location of exhibit space within site, floor plan of the exhibit spaces with the name and location of each exhibit section and references to exhibit detail drawings.

1.2.2.3 Floor plan and elevations showing any new architectural features or connections to existing architecture.

1.2.2.4 Plan and elevation views of each exhibit section showing locations of cases, pedestal, graphics, etc within the exhibit section. Contractor should include a floor plan on each sheet showing location of the exhibit section within the overall exhibit space.

1.2.2.5 Plan and elevation views of all exhibit fixtures. Sheets should include fixture layouts (in plan and elevation views) showing locations of objects displayed within fixtures. Sheets should include references to specific construction details contained within the drawing package.

1.2.2.6 Drawings should include sheets showing construction details of all fixtures.

1.2.2.7 Reflected ceiling plan of the exhibit space showing locations of new lighting fixtures and hardware. Include a separate sheet for the lighting schedule.

1.2.2.8 An electrical plan of the exhibit space showing floor and wall outlets, ceiling junction boxes, power circuits and power load for each exhibit fixture.

1.2.2.9 Schedule of all materials, colors, finishes, etc. to be used.

1.2.2.10 Schedule of all off the shelf items including name, address of manufacturers, telephone number and part number.

1.2.2.11 Locations and routing of all multimedia signal wiring.

1.2.2.12 Schedule of objects showing fixture number, need for bracketing, blocks, etc.

1.2.2.13 Schedule of graphic elements with reference to graphics fixture number and description of fixture.

1.2.2.14 Schedule of blocks, risers, book cradles, etc. with corresponding object number.

1.3 Fixture and Graphic Design. Work shall include the design of fixtures, graphics and lighting.

Contractor will be responsible for the scanning of images and Photoshop work on those images in preparation for use in the design.

1.3.1.1 Fixture design focuses on the design and detailing of exhibit components to include but not limited to cases, pedestals, graphic displays, plinths, brackets, mounts, audio components, video components, multi media kiosks and mechanical and non mechanical interactive devices. All fixtures should be designed to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and museum standards.

1.3.1.2 Graphic design is the design and detailing of two and three dimensional graphic components which may be presented on graphic panels, labels, kiosks and audio visual or computer screens. In addition, graphic design includes the manipulation of images for repair or effect using Photoshop. All graphic components should be designed to meet ADA and museum standards.

1.4 Fabrication and Installation. The contractor will take the design package and fabricate all components of the exhibit including brackets, pedestals, platforms, supports, graphics, text, and install hardware, and install them. Contractor will create any additional drawings, data, measurements, and graphics necessary for physical fabrication and installation.

1.5 Project Management. The contractor shall provide project management for the project to include list of deliverables, schedule of deliverables, milestone dates, management of sub-contractors, arrange transportation of fixtures and other exhibit components, coordinate delivery of fixtures, unloading, unpacking of fixtures, installation of fixtures, installation of display elements. The contractor shall develop and maintain an effective quality control program to ensure services are performed in accordance with the established performance work statement.
