About this file
This document is a Draft Purchase Description for a Precision Thermocouple Calibrator-Simulator, issued by the Department of the Air Force Metrology Calibration Program (AFMETCAL). The device is required to source and simulate thermocouple output voltages for calibrating temperature measurement instruments, with specific technical requirements including the ability to input/output voltages from -11 to 11 VDC, support multiple thermocouple types (J, K, T, E, R, S, B, and N), and operate with high precision across extensive temperature ranges.
Key specifications include a portable design weighing no more than 15 pounds, dimensions not exceeding 16x16x6 inches, a rechargeable battery providing six hours of continuous operation, internal cold junction compensation, USB data communication, and a digital display. The instrument must meet stringent accuracy requirements for different thermocouple types, operate in temperatures from 32 to 122°F, include a carrying case, and come with a comprehensive operator's manual. The opportunity is currently a pre-solicitation/sources sought synopsis for market research, with no funds currently available, and both large and small businesses are encouraged to participate.
