1.1 Introduction
The DoDD 8140-01 establishes the management of DoD cyberspace IT and cybersecurity elements of the DoD cyberspace workforce. The DoD 8570.01-M provides guidance for the identification and categorization of positions and certification of personnel conducting Cybersecurity (CS) functions within the DoD workforce supporting the DoD Global Information Grid (GIG). The manual mandates the identification of all positions performing information system management, specialized, or privileged access CS functions by category, specialty, and level. This applies to all positions with CS and cyberspace IT duties, whether performed as primary or additional/embedded. This requirement applies to military (reserve/active), civilian and contractor positions, including those staffed by local nationals (LNs). The manual also requires that those same personnel must maintain their certified status with a certain number of hours of continuing professional education each year. In addition, all services are required to implement a way to identify, document and track CS/cyberspace IT personnel qualification and certification and qualification status in components personnel databases.
1.1.1 Within the Department of Army, the CIO/G6, Cybersecurity Directorate is responsible for the operation and management of CS/cyberspace IT capabilities for DoD systems and networks that are connected to the Army’s Enterprise Network/LandWarNet.
