About this file

The document is a Draft Remote Weather Observation Station (RWOS) Salient Characteristics file associated with a Sources Sought Announcement by the Tennessee Army National Guard. The solicitation seeks a standalone, ruggedized weather observation station with specific technical requirements, including aerospace and military standards compliance, operating temperatures from -40°F to 140°F, integrated satellite and cellular transmission capabilities, and comprehensive meteorological data reporting. Key technical specifications include a 360° imaging camera, 12-month warranty, camouflage color options, self-stabilizing design, and ability to report data such as temperature, humidity, wind speed, GPS coordinates, precipitation, and lightning frequency.

The Sources Sought Notice is a market research initiative for a potential future procurement, targeting small businesses in the Search, Detection, Navigation, and Guidance Systems Manufacturing sector (NAICS 334511, small business size 1,350 employees). Interested vendors must submit a capability statement via email to john.t.patrone.civ@army.mil by August 13, 2025, including company details, business history, subcontracting experience, and a rough pricing estimate. The government emphasizes the need for a device that can be rapidly deployed in remote locations with minimal environmental impact, particularly for National Park applications, and requires no specialized training for operation.
