About this file
This document is a Description of Requirements for a Tire Pressure Mapping Sensor Pad for military aircraft, specifically targeting the C-17, F-15, KC-46, and B-21 models. The sensor pad must measure tire pressures up to 24-inch wide tires, handle pressures from 750-1,500 psi, support weights up to 75-kips, and collect data at a minimum 25-kHz rate. Key technical specifications include a sensor thickness of 0.004-0.008 inches, data sampling rate of 20,000 frames per second, operating temperature range of -40-392°F, and a borderless multi-sensor array configuration.
The procurement includes multiple accessory packages: one mapping hardware and sensor pad, customizable multi-tire high-speed mapping software, two high-speed data acquisition units, eight traceable calibrated sensors, twelve Teflon coating media sensor packages, and an 8-port data acquisition expander. Additional requirements include on-site installation, calibration, and demonstration, plus a customer care program. The contract has a delivery deadline of 140 days post-award to Hanger #2 at the GSL-Airfields and Pavements Branch in Vicksburg, MS, with a contract award date no later than September 30, 2025. Vendors must submit technical documentation proving their capability to provide the specified tire pressure mapping sensor pad.

DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENTS:
Tire Pressure Mapping Sensor Pad
1. Description of Requirements:
The tire pressure mapping sensor pad is required to measure tire pressure for one-side of the main landing multi-wheel gear for the C-17, F-15, KC-46, and B-21 military aircraft. Specifically, the sensor pad measure tire pressure that have: (a) tire width up to 24-in, (b) minimum tire pressure 750-psi, (c) weights up to 75-kips, and (d) and data collection rate minimum 25-kHz.
The tire pressure mapping sensor pad must also meet the following requirements:
a. Sensor Thickness Range, (in.): [0.004 - 0.008]
b. Data Sampling Rate: Minimum 20,000 frames per second (880,000 points per second per sensor, with simultaneously 16 sensor sampling capabilities).
c. Operating Temperature Range, (°F): minimum [ -40-140] and capable of [-40-392°F]
d. Sensor Border Width: Borderless multi-sensor arrays configuration for capturing main landing multi-wheel gear tire pressures as noted for aircraft above.
e. Direct Measure (non-extrapolated) Sensor Pressure Range, (psi): [1,500 - 25,000]
f. Sensor Plastic Deformation Minimum Limit, (psi): 10,000
g. Sensing Area Range, (sq. ft.): minimum 19-ft with expansion capabilities 28.5-ft
h. Software:
i. View pressure distribution dynamically in real time
ii. Record dynamic pressure
iii. ASCII data export capability for importing data into 3rd-party programs such as Python, Excel, JMP, and/or MATLAB.
iv. Image export capability for importing data into 3rd-party programs such as png, jpeg and/or tiff, etc.
v. Single point calibration (pressures and forces displayed in engineering units)
vi. Multi-point calibration (pressures and forces displayed in engineering units)
vii. Multi-point equilibration (normalize sensor output over a wide range of pressures)
viii. Pre-Post loading reconciliation using digital Zero Taring Function
ix. 2-D and 3-D pressure mapping viewer with statistical distribution determination for effective multi-wheel gear tire stress bulb analysis.
