About this file

This document is a Question and Answer clarification for a HONO Survey Services Request for Qualifications.

The clarification addresses the scope and deliverables for land survey plat preparation and recording. Specifically, the inquiry sought confirmation regarding whether the purpose of required survey maps is to depict boundary corners found or set, given that the parcel and easement are already recorded in the State of Hawaii Land Court System and adjudicated by the Department of Accounting and General Services (DAGS). The response confirms that although the parcel and easement are recorded on Land Court Maps, the parcel itself remains unsurveyed, with its creation based on a calculated metes-and-bounds description. The contractor is required to prepare and file a Record of Survey that displays set monuments and descriptions on a plat incorporating all components specified in the Statement of Work (SOW). This Record of Survey can be filed at the appropriate repository designated for this type of survey document.

HONO Survey Services (Request for Qualifications)

Question and Answer #1

Question - We have a question regarding preparation of “land survey plat will be prepared and recorded”—the parcel & easement is already recorded in the State of Hawaii Land Court System (adjudicated by DAGS)—is the purpose of the map to depict boundary corners found or set? These maps are not normally recorded with DAGS.

Answer - “Land survey plat will be prepared and recorded” - This parcel and easement is recorded in the State of Hawaii Land Court System (adjudicated by DAGS), as shown on the recorded Land Court Maps but the parcel is unsurveyed, the creation of the parcel is based on a calculated metes-and-bounds description. A Record of Survey that shows set monuments and descriptions on a plat and incorporates the components required in the SOW is needed and can be filed at whatever the appropriate repository is for a Record of Survey of this nature.
