THE CONTRACTOR. Submission is voluntary.
DRAFT Performance Work Statement (PWS)
Background: The Research Vessel (R/V) Muskie, based in Sandusky, Ohio, was built in 2011 and currently operates on Lake Erie. The Muskie replaced the R/V Musky II, which was the primary USGS research platform on Lake Erie since 1960. The Muskie is used to assess annual recruitment of major prey and predator fish in western Lake Erie as well as in lake trout restoration research in eastern Lake Erie.
The Muskie also participates in studies designed to determine the impacts of environmental changes.
Technical Requirements:
Dry docking service for R/V Muskie (Length: 70 ft; Beam: 18 ft; Draft: 5.5 ft; and Cruising Speed: 12 kts).
Geographic location for transitory dockage shall be within the Ohio shoreline on Lake Erie to allow for short-term and mid-term dockage at different ports dependent upon field operations.
Estimated period of performance is from May 1, 2024 through April 30, 2025
(End of DRAFT PWS)
For market research purposes only, the USGS is investigating interested contractors that can demonstrate capabilities and provide a general cost estimate. A finalized PWS will be provided with any future solicitation that may be issued for this requirement.
