DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE

436th Contracting Squadron

639 Atlantic Street Dover Air Force Base, Delaware 19902

18 May 20

MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD

FROM: 436 CONS/PKB

SUBJECT: Contractor Use of Cloth Face Coverings

1. The Department of Defense (DoD) is committed to taking every precaution to ensure the health and wellbeing of our nation in response to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. On April

5, 2020, the United States Secretary of Defense, Dr. Mark Esper, implemented the mandatory use of cloth face coverings on all DoD installations, including Dover Air Force Base. Effective immediately, to the extent practical, all individuals on DoD property, installations, and facilities will wear cloth face coverings when they cannot maintain at least six feet of social distance in public areas or work centers. Security checkpoints may require the lowering of face covers to verify identification. Exceptions to this requirement must be approved by the Contracting Officer.

2. All individuals are encouraged to fashion face coverings from household items or common materials, such as clean T-shirts or other clean cloths that can cover the nose and mouth area. Medical personal protective equipment such as N95 respirators or surgical masks will not be issued for this purpose as these will be reserved for the appropriate personnel. You will be notified by the Contracting Officer or

Contracting Officer Representative if additional protective measures are implemented.

3. While operating during this period, please adhere to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines to limit exposure and chances of falling ill and ensure measures are taken to protect your employees as necessary.

4. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the undersigned at talaya.jones.2@us.af.mil.
