About this file
This document is a Timber Sale Prescription issued by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources - Forest Resources Division for the C133 South Contract Timber Sale. The sale covers 149.6 acres in Sections 22 and 23, Township 45N, Range 8W in Luce County. The contract work can begin immediately and must be completed by September 1, 2023. The treatment objective is a single tree selection harvest by thinning the northern hardwood stand to a basal area of 70-90 sq ft per acre, while retaining all white pine, cedar, hemlock, and sub-merchantable balsam fir. The contract requires painting boundary lines, GPS data collection, timber marking, and cruising to DNR specifications.
The contract does not include paint line work or boundary GPS surveying, which will be provided by the DNR. Timber cruising should use a 10 BAF and follow specific layout and sampling requirements. The contractor must coordinate with the DNR Newberry Field Office for paint supply and can only work during standard DNR business hours. Key deliverables include a list of personnel, paint usage summary, and electronic cruise and GPS data.
