About this file
This document is a Timber Sale Prescription from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources - Forest Resources Division for the C102 Contract Timber Sale in the Newberry Management Unit. The 138.0-acre project involves a shelterwood harvest with retention in Stand 5, where white pine will be marked to leave at 50-70 basal area, along with retaining oak, hemlock, and birch. The contract work can begin immediately and must be completed by 09/01/2023. The contract includes paint line work, boundary GPS, timber marking, and timber cruising specifications.
The total merchantable residual basal area is specified to be 60 (minimum 50, maximum 70). The cruise design calls for approximately 75 cruise points at a 1:1.8 plots per acre ratio, using a 10 BAF. Restrictions include the contractor having no more than two markers in one cruise unit without prior approval, and coordination with the DNR for paint supply. Deliverables include a list of names for those who marked or cruised each unit, a summary of paint used, and all data uploaded to the DNR's InventoryManager system.
