RESTRICTIONS
1. Forest Resources Division must be able to identify who did what on the timber sale.
2. The contractor may not have more than two markers in one cruise unit without prior approval.
3. Each marker should have an assigned area to mark (not strips).
PAINT
4. Call Trevor Kubitskey at 989-217-0107 to make arrangements for paint.
5. Paint will be supplied from the Grayling or Mio Field Office.
6. Contractor’s work schedule must coincide with the DNR work schedule for paint supply.
7. The DNR will not be available on weekends or evenings.
DELIVERABLES
8. A list of names that marked or cruised each cruise unit.
9. A summary of paint used (in quarts).
10. All data, cruise and GPS, must be uploaded from MobileMap to InventoryManager.
Additional Information
Residual trees will be cruised at every other plot with a ratio of 1:100. Select the appropriate Basal Area factor for cruising that will average 4-8 in trees per plot. Plot center will be marked by a stake or stick firmly inserted into the ground with a fluorescent colored ribbon attached to it. A piece of ribbon also must be hung near plot center at eye level to help locate plot location. If any Raptor nests are found during sale prep, notify the contract administrator as soon as possible. Review DNR Product Standards & Cruising Manual before starting. If using a laser hypsometer for cruising, it is encouraged to double check calibration/accuracy before starting to cruise.
** Note** Due to there being additional timber that will need to be cruised in the Systematic Thinning stands (i.e. cut all jack pine, pin oak, etc.), the stands will have to be cruised normally with the cruiser keeping track of the designated cut rows and leave rows. During sale prep, it may be encouraged to paint confidence markers down the cut rows to help during cruising. Also, per USFS request, the oak thinning units within this contract can only be marked during leaf on conditions. All red pine units and boundary work can be done leaf on or leaf off.
