Subj: REQUEST TO PROCURE NUTRITIONAL ITEMS FOR NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE GROUP THREE
1. Naval Special Warfare Group THREE (NSWG-3) has identified a critical requirement for procuring bars, powders, and gels/chews as stated in section 3 below. This is a limited purchase to evaluate the effectiveness of the specific products which were selected based upon the prior initial screening of ingredients, certifications, and formulations of products from a larger list of Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) items. Based upon the evaluation of each product's use under training and operational conditions, subsequent decisions will be made regarding the specific brands purchased for this initial buy, and the general ingredients and formulations representative of potentially other acceptable products, to develop a future acquisition strategy which meets operational requirements while fostering increased vendor competition when nutritional supplements are procured on a recurring basis.
2. All NSW Operator face challenging individualized and situational physiological dietary requirements that are SOF specific. In particular are Seal Delivery Vehicle (SDV) Operators; they face numerous challenges that are unique to their mission requirement to include exposure to cold temperatures, tights quarters and barometric pressure. The SDV operators deploy for purpose and it is critical to have nutritional products available for the individuals prior to November 2019. The high risk demand on the operator is constant and the delta between success and possible catastrophic failure is minute.
3. The following products align with operator needs in NSWG-3 unique environments, and provide a first and second choice for every category.
