STATEMENT OF WORK

1. Certification of Biological Safety Cabinets

The Contractor shall complete certifications in accordance with the test procedures specified by National Sanitation Foundation Standard 49 (NSF-49) for Class II (Laminar Flow) Biosafety Cabinetry (current edition). Any unit not covered by the NSF-49 Standard shall be tested in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications. An electronic copy of all tests shall be forwarded to the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) within two (2) days of completing the tests.

All of the personnel proposed to provide certification services shall be certified as part of the NSF-49 Class II Biosafety Field Certifier Accreditation Program. They must have successfully completed both written and practical examinations demonstrating the ability to perform the tests listed in Annex F of NSF-49.

All certificates must remain current for the duration of the performance period.

2. Testing of Filters on Laminar Flow Clean Benches

Annual checks of the filters will consist of the filters being challenged with an appropriate aerosol. If the aerosol penetration exceeds the 0.01% or the manufacturer’s specifications and the filter cannot be repaired, then it will be replaced. An electronic copy of all test results shall be provided to the COR within two (2) days of completing the tests.

3. Decontamination of Biological Safety Cabinets

Decontamination of cabinets is to be accomplished using chlorine dioxide.

The Contractor will be notified by the COR when any cabinets require decontamination.

The Contractor is responsible for the clean-up of any materials used in the decontamination process.

4. Emergency Response Calls and Repairs

The Contractor will be notified by the COR for emergency response and repair calls and will respond within twenty-four (24) hours after notification. The hours charged will not start until the Contractor’s Technician(s) are actually on NIEHS property and have reported to the COR.

5. Repair Parts

Any repair parts or supplies required for completion of repairs must be authorized by the COR. Prices are to be quoted and billed “at cost” to NIEHS in advance of purchase. Prices are to be consistent with current published catalog pricing less any discounts routinely offered to the Government. NIEHS reserves the option to supply parts as required if the COR determines that alternate sources would be more economical or expedient.
