Q. Good afternoon, I will be submitting an offer at a later date for this RFP. I am however wondering what your SOP is for demo units. Would you like the demo unit ASAP, or would you like the demo sent on or after the offer is completed and sent? Also, I want to confirm that the demo unit send to address is correct below.
On another note, there are some newer frangible breach round available, would you like demos of the rounds as well? The “tear” round is great in most previous versions of most breach shotguns, especially the old 870’s, and saiga versions. The requirement of the AR platform in which most cases are built on an AR-10 lower, can be (in some cases) somewhat of an issue with this 3 inch “tear” rounds. I would like to send some other options of breech rounds for you to try as well.
Let me know what you think.
Demo ship to address Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Ballistic Research Facility 4942 Fowler Road Building 6315 Redstone Arsenal, AL 35829 Attn: Scott Patterson Reference: RFP DJF-23-2200-PR-0000669
A. The address is correct and the demo guns would need to be received by the closing date as part of the proposal. Unfortunately we are not allowed to use other rounds at this time. The 2 ¾” TEAR will be used for testing.
Q. In regard to the breaching shotguns that the FBI is looking for. I wanted to know is First article testing going to be done on these shotguns at all or would a current shotgun that meets the specification sought be acceptable?
A. Commercial shotguns that meet the specifications are welcome to be submitted and will still be required to go through the testing process.
Q. Request for more time.
A. The date was changed. Proposals are now due April 10, 2023.
