About this file

This is Bid Addendum 2 for the Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District (DIISD) Technical Education Center Renovation project in Iron Mountain, Michigan, issued by architect Blomquist Architects, PLLC on March 16, 2026. The project involves renovation work at the Technical Education Center, with bids due on March 24, 2026 at 2:00 PM Central Time. The addendum modifies and clarifies the previously issued project manual and drawings, introducing several key changes including revised bid alternates related to exterior wall insulation (rockwool cavity insulation in base bid with fiberglass batt substitute option), subceiling options for administrative, staff, and welding areas, and updated drawing sheets covering demolition, renovation, building sections, details, HVAC systems, plumbing, and lighting schedules. Bidders are required to submit a brief schedule and sequencing narrative with their proposals, including a tentative payment schedule. A final addendum may be issued on Friday, March 20, 2026 if additional clarifications are necessary.

The addendum establishes significant bonding and insurance requirements for this school construction project exceeding $50,000. Contractors must provide Payment and Performance Bonds at 100% of total project cost per Michigan Compiled Law 129.201 et seq, with bid security of 5% of the total bid amount. Minimum insurance coverage includes $1 million per occurrence/$2 million aggregate Commercial General Liability, $2 million Automobile Liability, statutory Workers' Compensation, and $2 million Employers' Liability. The project is subject to Michigan Prevailing Wage requirements based on the Dickinson County wage schedule provided as an attachment. Additional clarifications include approved door hardware specifications (Schlage RC series readers and HES 9400 electric strikes), overhead door approvals (EZ Glide EZ Therm series), hazardous material abatement options (mechanical or chemical methods for asbestos-containing materials with contractors selecting the method best suited to their schedule), and waiver of AISC certification requirements for structural steel. Room signage will be furnished and installed by the Owner, and wall base details have been revised to utilize treated wood ledgers instead of steel angles.
