Description of Requirement

Centrifuge High Speed Fiber Optic Camera System

1. INTRODUCTION:

The US Army’s Centrifuge Research Complex (CRC) has undergone a substantial renovation to upgrade the centrifuge and associated facilities in the past two years. One of the major upgrades was to transition the centrifuge and the facility communication network from CAT5 to multi-mode fiber optics. This included installation of a fiber optic rotary joint (FORJ) which enables communication from the static to rotary side of the centrifuge. The seven channel FORJ was purchased from Princetel (part number: JX7-25-131-2850-

010-020-E2A). Five of the seven channels are multimode fibers (MM) with a G150/125 and wavelength of

850/1310nm. A new high speed camera which interfaces with these on-board fiber optics is required.

2. CAMERA REQUIREMENTS:

• One high speed streaming camera with dual optical fiber QSFP ports; must interface with no more than four multimode fibers each with a G150/125 and wavelength of 850/1310nm.

• Must have a maximum resolution of 4096 x 2304 pixels and pixel size no greater than 7mm.

• Frames per second (FPS) at max resolution should be at least 900 FPS.

• Capable of taking color or mono images.

• Flexible, with rolling and global electronic shutter, 8-bit or 12-bit selection, and a full selection of signals.

• Must have capability for an on-camera and remote (software enabled) trigger.

• Power supply must be included with required cable.

• Camera will weigh no more than 7 lbs and be no larger than 5” x 5” x 7”. Must include on camera mounting points.

• Camera equipped with an F-mount standard lens mount.

• Camera must be within scope of ERDC’s existing high speed camera BPA service contract.

3. IMAGE DATA ACQUISITION SYSTEM:

• Image acquisition computer must use a windows based operating system with the following parameters:

o System processer and storage capable of quickly acquiring 8TB of data (approximately 14 minutes of full resolution high speed video at 900Hz) o Imaging hardware must have two fiber enabled frame grabber and an on-board GPU processor o Computer must be rack mountable and fit within a 4U chassis o Four 40 GB QSFP fiber transceivers compatible with the camera and the data acquisition system.

o Software capable of operating and supporting image acquisition from camera at max resolution and speed (see camera and computer hardware specifications).

4. DELIVERY DATE AND LOCATION:

• Quote shall include system integration, shipping, installation, 3 year warranty/maintenance period, software licensing, and training required to ensure the equipment is fully functional.

• Equipment shall be delivered and installed no later than 4 months after award. Training and installation shall be provided within 60 days after delivery.

5. GOVERNMENT FURNISHED

• The government will be responsible for providing the fiber optic cables (including the appropriate connectors) between the camera and the FORJ. If other fiber optic cabling is required, government will produce and provide to the contractor.
