Question 1. What percent of the area has vehicle (truck) access along the powerlines?
Answer 1. RMR maintains approximately 5000 miles of transmission line in parts of a 7 state area. While the majority of the power system is generally accessible by pickup truck, site conditions across this large geographic area are ever changing with the result of affecting access. Appendix 3 of the PWS which was incorporated into the solicitation by Amendment 001 roughly depicts where the transmission lines are located. There are free on-line computer programs that can assist in terrain analysis.
Question 2. Is the work to be done virgin territory or has this been done before, if so how long ago?
Answer 2. RMR's power system facilities range in age from 20 to 70 years old. Managing growing and changing vegetative conditions on these facilities continues to be an ongoing maintenance requirement. Given the large geographic area covered by the RMR power system, a full range of different vegetative scenarios can be anticipated. RMR has had a contract in place to provide vegetation management since 2006. Prior to this time, vegetation management work was completed by Western’s line crews.
