Description

USAID intends to issue a solicitation for a U.S. Personal Services Contract (USPSC) for the position Democratic Climate Action Advisor, GS-14 grade equivalent, for USAID’s Democracy, Human Rights, and Governance (DRG) Bureau.

The Democratic Climate Action Advisor will provide support to the Washington-based Policy, Learning, and Integration (PLI) Office of the DRG Bureau. The Democratic Climate Action Advisor will play a central role in advancing USAID's democracy and climate objectives by supporting equitable and ambitious actions to confront the climate crisis. Democratic decline and climate change are linked development challenges and DRG principles and approaches are needed to defuse the climate crisis. For example, the incumbent will work with the DRG cadre in USAID Missions to identify entry points where supporting climate action through DRG programming can also strengthen democratic norms, processes, and institutions. This type of ‘democratic climate action’ that advances DRG principles, tools, and approaches to achieve dual climate and democracy outcomes is intended to help host countries to deliver on their climate goals and improve public confidence in democratic governments’ ability to “deliver” results that people care about. A core aspect of this work is to collaborate with local partners to strengthen the political advocacy, engagement, and leadership of critical populations (youth, women, Indigenous Peoples, etc) on climate action.

The duration of the contract period is anticipated to be a two (2) year base period with three optional one (1) year periods for a maximum duration of five (5) years.

The solicitation will be published on System for Award Management (SAM). Interested parties are advised to periodically monitor this website for updates on this potential opportunity.

Except for the above information, no additional information regarding this planned solicitation is available at this time. All necessary information will be supplied at the time the solicitation is issued. USAID will not respond to any questions or requests for information until the solicitation is issued. USAID will not accept applications prior to issuance of the solicitation.

Issuance of the pre-solicitation notice and any subsequent RFP does not constitute an award commitment on the part of USAID, nor does it commit USAID to pay for any costs incurred in the preparation and submission of any application.
