About this file
This document outlines delivery requirements for food products to a Bureau of Prisons (BOP) facility. All deliveries must be palletized unless prior arrangements are made with warehouse staff. Temperature control is critical: non-frozen perishable foods must arrive between 34°F and 40°F, canned goods above 34°F and not frozen, and frozen foods at 0°F or below. Any product showing evidence of prior thawing will be rejected. Certified religious diet items, specifically Kosher-marked items, must display the Kosher Symbol on individual packages and comply with BOP National Menu Specifications, or they will be refused.
The receiving process includes rigorous inspection and testing procedures. Delivery acceptance may be conditional for up to three days to allow adequate examination and testing, with items failing specifications being refused. Some items may require thawing and cooking to verify compliance. Vendors are responsible for picking up rejected items at their own expense within two days of notification. If products are not retrieved within two weeks, the warehouse staff will dispose of them at vendor expense.
