About this file
I have reviewed the file provided, but the document titled "DEEP Fisheries Information.pdf" does not contain substantive content related to the Marion Avenue Bridge Replacement project (Bridge No. 131017, State Project No. L131-0005). The file appears to be a fisheries-related document from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) that is not directly applicable to the bridge replacement contract opportunity.
To provide an accurate and comprehensive summary of the contract opportunity requirements, I would need access to the actual contract documents, scope of work, project specifications, and bidding requirements associated with the Marion Avenue Bridge Replacement project. Without these essential documents, I cannot provide the detailed information regarding project scope, quantities, response deadlines, site visits, pricing terms, or other salient contract details necessary for potential bidders to submit complete and accurate bids.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Project is to replace the existing Marion Avenue Bridge No. 131017 over an unnamed brook with a precast structure. The existing structure consists of an 8-foot long combination stone masonry arch and asphalt coated corrugated metal pipe (ACCMP) arch on concrete footings that was originally constructed in 1930. The ACCMP represents a portion of the structure what was reconstructed in 1975, according to the Town’s information. The stone masonry arch exhibits spalled concrete headwalls/parapets, spalled mortar joints with a section of missing mortar and loose stone masonry along the top of the arch. This area shows evidence of roadbed material eroding through the top of the arch. The design will include the replacement of the structure with a 4-sided precast concrete box. The project will require minor clearing and grubbing alongside the watercourse, full-depth roadway reconstruction, utility pole relocations and embankment gradation. Lastly, the project will include new safety features such as MASH compliant guiderail and line striping.
The proposed project will replace the existing structure with a 10’ wide by 8’ high precast concrete box culvert lined with a minimum of 2 feet of natural streambed material. This design was selected to address the structural deficiencies of the culvert and maintain hydraulic adequacy. The concrete pad at the outlet will be removed, and the channel grade will be changed to better match the upstream slope. The horizontal alignment of the channel will be changed to 24° from normal, which will increase the structure length to 41’-7”. The box culvert provides additional watercourse area with installation of natural streambed through box culvert.
