FloridaFAPA provides effective foster parent support to assist in the retention of existing families. Retention efforts are key to maintaining not only capable and skilled families, but assuring that Florida’s families are experienced, resilient and successful in fostering and adopting.
The services required are not general training or outreach services; rather, they are specialized, statewide foster/adoptive caregiver support, engagement, and peer-informed statewide training services that require: (1) an existing statewide membership organization serving foster, adoptive, relative, and non-relative caregivers; (2) established infrastructure for coordination with local caregiver associations throughout Florida; (3) demonstrated integration with the Department’s child-welfare system and caregiver support framework; and (4) operational capacity to provide specialized foster parent allegation support and advocacy.
