About this file
Summary of Salient Characteristics
This document specifies the salient characteristics for a data acquisition system branded as the Diversified Technical Systems, Inc. (DTS) SLICE6 AIR or an equal alternative. The system comprises modular units designed for airborne testing applications with strict physical, environmental, and functional requirements. Each module must not exceed 42 mm (W) x 52 mm (L) x 13 mm (H) in dimensions and 50 grams in mass to accommodate spatially-constrained aircraft structural cavities and flight test payload requirements. The modules must withstand 500 g operational shock (half-sine pulse, 4 ms duration) and operate continuously in unconditioned environments ranging from -40°C to +80°C. Environmental sealing must meet a minimum IP64 rating, and the system must be qualified to MIL-STD-810G for environmental durability and MIL-STD-461G for electromagnetic interference and compatibility.
Functionally, each modular unit must provide a minimum of six universal analog input channels with maximum recording sample rates of at least 400,000 samples per second per channel and 16 GB of integrated non-volatile flash memory for onboard storage. The system must natively support real-time data streaming over Ethernet in selectable formats including IRIG 106 Chapter 10, IENA, and TmNS without external protocol converters. Time synchronization must support IEEE 1588 PTPv2 via Ethernet, IRIG-B, and GPS/1PPS. The system must provide universal signal conditioning for Bridge, MEMS, Voltage, IEPE, Thermocouple, and RTD sensor types, plus UART serial data interface capability for RS232, RS422, or RS485 data streams. An integrated 2-port 100 Mbps Ethernet switch enables daisy-chaining of multiple modules. Supporting components must include DataPRO 4 software compatible with Windows 10/11, all required cabling and connectors (including Micro-D 51-pin and 25-pin assemblies), and an interface device such as the SLICE6 AIR Chain Module for centralized system control.

Salient Characteristics
Brand Name or Equal to Diversified Technical Systems, Inc. (DTS) SLICE6 AIR
I. Physical & Environmental Characteristics:
1. Form Factor (Size): Shall not exceed a maximum physical dimension of 42 mm (W) x 52 mm (L) x 13 mm (H) per module to ensure fitment in spatially-constrained aircraft structural cavities.
2. Mass (Weight): Shall not exceed a maximum mass of 50 grams per module to comply with strict flight test payload and weight distribution requirements.
3. Shock Survivability: Shall be rated to withstand a minimum operational shock of 500 g (half-sine pulse, 4 ms duration) to ensure data integrity and hardware survivability during hypersonic flight.
4. Operational Temperature: Shall be rated for continuous operation in an unconditioned environment with a temperature range of at least -40°C to +80°C.
5. Environmental Sealing: Shall have a minimum ingress protection rating of IP64 to protect against dust and water splash within the operational environment.
6. Military Standards Compliance: Shall be qualified to MIL-STD-810G for environmental durability and MIL-STD-461G for electromagnetic interference and compatibility.
II. Functional & Performance Characteristics:
1. Channel Configuration: Each modular unit must provide a minimum of six (6) universal analog input channels.
2. Onboard Data Recording: Must feature a minimum of 16 GB of integrated, non-volatile flash memory for onboard data storage, with a maximum recording sample rate of at least 400,000 samples per second on all per channel.
3. Real-Time Data Streaming: Must natively support real-time data streaming over Ethernet without the use of external protocol converters. The system must support selectable streaming formats including, at a minimum, IRIG 106 Chapter 10, IENA, and TmNS.
4. Time Synchronization: Must support multiple time synchronization sources, including IEEE 1588 PTPv2 (via Ethernet), IRIG-B, and GPS/1PPS.
5. Sensor & Data Interface:
Salient Characteristics
• Must provide universal signal conditioning to support, at a minimum, the following sensor types: Bridge, MEMS, Voltage, IEPE, Thermocouple, and
RTD.
• Must include a UART serial data interface capable of capturing RS232, RS422, or RS485 data streams.
6. Networking: Must feature an integrated 2-port 100 Mbps Ethernet switch to allow for daisy-chaining multiple modules without requiring external network hardware.
III. Supporting Components:
1. System Integration & Software: The offeror must provide all necessary interface devices, cabling, connectors, and software to create a fully functional system. This includes:
• A software package (e.g., DataPRO 4 License Seat) compatible with Windows 10/11 for system configuration, data management, diagnostics, and viewing.
• All required cabling and connectors for power, sensor input, and system control (e.g., Micro-D 51-pin, 25-pin connector assemblies, and Slice6 AIR Interface Device and Cable Kit).
• An interface device to enable daisy-chaining and centralized system control (e.g. Slice6 AIR Chain Module).
