DARPA-BAA-15-49 -- Appendix B

APPENDIX B: CRITICAL DESIGN REVIEW

Objective:

The CDR is a multi-disciplinary technical review that assesses the final design as captured in product specifications for each component in the system and ensures that each product specification has been captured in detailed design documentation. Product specifications for hardware and software should be at a sufficient level of detail to enable the fabrication and coding to begin. The CDR also evaluates test and verification planning documentation to ensure the appropriate activities have been identified to verify requirements at the component, subsystem, and system levels within the current allocated budget and schedule. All planned technical risk mitigation activities should be complete and technical risks should be reduced to acceptable levels. A successful review is predicated on the determination that the detailed system design documentation, risk mitigation results, and plans for test and evaluation form a satisfactory basis for proceeding into system fabrication, integration, and test.
