About this file
This document is a Request for Information (RFI) from the Department of the Air Force (DAF) for Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Alternatives. The market research aims to identify and evaluate alternative technologies and maintenance solutions for LMR devices that can integrate with existing APCO P25 architecture without additional infrastructure. The RFI seeks comprehensive information from vendors across eight sections, including company profile, product technology, sustainment services, government interaction, product lifecycle, emerging technologies, and industry best practices.
Vendors are requested to submit a one-page narrative, vendor catalog, and a detailed data submission through an online form or via email/mail by 25 August 2025. The research encompasses LMR subscribers, communication solutions, end-user devices, software, maintenance services, and support for both Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS) requirements. The government encourages vendors to share insights on commercial standards, subscriber management, emerging technologies, and maintenance processes. This is not a formal solicitation, and participation is voluntary, with no guarantee of future work or reimbursement for costs incurred.

Overview
The Department of the Air Force (DAF) Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Product Management Office (PMO) through Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center (AFIMSC), is conducting market research to identify and evaluate alternatives to LMR devices and maintenance solutions. Alternative solutions shall provide similar/same capabilities in a stand-alone configuration or integrate into existing LMR APCO P25 architecture without the inclusion of additional infrastructure to the existing DAF LMR architecture.
The objective is to identify available alternative technologies and gain insights into industry maintenance and sustainment requirements for these alternatives. The government encourages vendors to share best practices for managing LMR alternative requirements, including commercial standards, subscriber management, emerging technologies, and maintenance and service processes.
This research encompasses information collection for LMR subscribers, alternative communication solutions, end-user devices, software, maintenance services, and related support required for effective and responsive communications. The scope includes requirements in both the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS).
The government requests vendors provide a one-page narrative, access to vendor catalog (if available), and a data submission in response to this Request for Information (RFI) using Attachment #1, " Request for Information Details." Make submissions at the link below:
RFI submissions will be made at "https://forms.osi.apps.mil/r/NZFeaA4cst".
Organizations are limited to one submission. The one-page narrative and catalogs can be emailed to “AFIMSC.A53P.DAFLMRPMO@us.af.mil” with the following subject line “Company Name RFI Supporting Items” or mail to the government to the address below:
