INTRODUCTION

The Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Ocean Service (NOS), Hollings Marine Laboratory (HML), located at 331 Fort Johnson Road, Charleston, SC is a federal research laboratory housing five (5) scientific business partners. The HML is an 117,000 square foot laboratory facility which includes laboratories, office spaces, a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) facility and an aquaculture facility.

PURPOSE

The facility currently has a requirement to install a VAV fume hood in lab D212. The following equipment to be added is new valves for the VAV fume Hood to replace the existing original constant volume valve with new digital Bacnet valves and add upgrade kit to upgrade the existing controller in D212 to digital Bacnet controller. The new valves for Lab D212 are to be installed for the new fume hood that will be added and to replace the original constant volume valves with digital Bacnet valves.

These new digital Bacnet Valves will be networked to a new Metasys controller and the existing Graphics and alarms will be updated on the Metasys server. A Test and Balance of D212 lab will be done.

SCOPE OF WORK

New Hood in D212:

Demolition:

The Contractor shall remove ceiling and demo and remove the existing duct work as required for D212 and piping as needed.

Laboratory D212:

Provide and Install:

o (1) 12” digital Antec Fume Hood valve o (1) Dual 12” digital Antec Supply valve o (1) Dual 12” digital Antec GEX valve o (1) Antec Fume Hood Interfaces o (1) Antec Fume Hood Presence Sensors o (1) Antec Fume Hood sash sensor o 24VAC transformers, as required for each lab

• Lab pressurization tracking control based on the variable volume AHU/EF system

• Provide commissioning services for the Antec Digital Control System

• Antec system integration to Metasys

• Provide TAB support for each valve upgrade

• Provide updated graphics

Provide:

TAB for the New Antec Control System

• TAB for the Lab D212, based on the original system design or new design as provided for this project.

• Fume hood face velocity measurements

• Room and Duct Temperature sensors or hot water valves. Temperature control by JCI.

Disposal:

The contractor shall remove waste and dispose of demolition materials and debris on a daily basis.

Clean up and disposal of materials and debris shall be done in full compliance with all local, State, and Federal Regulations. The contractor shall disconnect and reinstall and upgrade all Metasys controller’s on the D212 Fume Hood and upgrade associated connections in the room and on the ducting. Checkout and startup of new D212 Fume Hood. Will be done in coordination with the GPOC so that there will be minimal impact on HML residents and operations.

The contractor shall remove and re-install ducting, piping, conduits and lighting when required to access ducting. With the new bacnet Valves, Controller’s and fume hood all the water piping will be reconnected, including the newly provided bacnet control valves. The contractor shall have an electrical sub-contractor to provide and reconnect the existing electrical power. The contractor shall properly install the controls and conduct the proper start-up of this new D212 fume hood. All piping hot and chilled water will be re-insulated back to the existing condition. Coordination of demolition and installation will be arranged with the GPOC. This approach will ensure that operations, residents, and marine life are not negatively impacted as a result of the proposed work.

Testing:

Once the Laboratories D212 Fume hood and associated equipment have been installed, the contactor shall run tests on the new Stainless-Steel fume hood, ducting to ensure proper airflow and safety. The contractor shall adjust and balance airflows to meet existing “Test and Balance Specifications” that will be provided by the GPOC. The contractor shall connect the newly installed stainless-steel fume hood electrical controls to the HML energy management system (MetaSys System) and provide a Certified “Test and Balance Report” on the newly installed Bacnet Valves, and ducting and the newly installed E-section stainless steel fume hood in D212 in conjunction with the supply and ducting airflow to show that it achieves the existing design specifications.

All work shall comply with all applicable codes, shall be environmentally appropriate, and shall meet site condition requirements. All work shall meet manufacturer’s recommendations and requirements.
