About this file

This is a Request for Bid Amendment issued by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), a state agency operating under Wisconsin Department of Administration procurement authority. The project involves the furnish and installation of a boardwalk on Henrietta Lake at the UW-Milwaukee Waukesha County Field Station. The original RFB (D20-004-O) was released on July 29, 2019, with an amendment released on August 1, 2019. The deadline for bidder questions is August 2, 2019 at 12:00 noon CDT, and bids are due August 8, 2019 at 12:00 noon CDT. Bids may be submitted either by physical receipt at the Purchasing Office or by email. Bidders' questions should be directed to Donna Lumsden at uwmbids@uwm.edu.

The amendment clarifies that alternatives to provided specifications are acceptable if clearly defined and equal to or exceed current specifications, with the University serving as sole judge of equivalency. Galvanized steel frames, posts, and pads must specify thickness, size, and galvanizing method to qualify as alternatives. The amendment permits use of 2 X 6 pressure-treated materials for decking instead of 5/4 material, and staining of pressure-treated decking is optional, with staining costs shown as a separate line item if included. Wisconsin Statutes provisions apply regarding certified Minority Business Enterprise preferences (5% preference available) and work center certifications for employers of persons with severe disabilities. Bidders must certify compliance with state procurement regulations, domestic manufacturing requirements under Wisconsin Statutes s. 16.754, competitive bidding standards, and that they are not debarred or suspended from federal contracts.
