About this file
This document appears to be a Justification for an Exception to Fair Opportunity for the National Institute on Aging (NIA) Intramural Research Program (IRP) to procure high-performance computing (HPC) equipment and storage.
The key details are:
- NIA IRP requires HPC compute nodes and storage to support scientific research and analytics as they migrate their desktop compute environment to a centralized HPC environment.
- The procurement is a new requirement to be awarded as a firm-fixed-price contract.
- The requirement will be posted on NITAAC for bids, and the lowest technically acceptable bid will be selected. The cost is determined to be fair and reasonable.
- The justification cites FAR 16.505(a)(4) - Items peculiar to one manufacturer (brand-name) - as the exception to the fair opportunity process, as the equipment specifications are needed to directly integrate into the current NIA compute environment.
- The related federal contract opportunity, solicitation number HHSN316201500043W75N95024F00009JEFO, was awarded on 09/09/2024 to an unknown vendor for an unknown amount.
