Annex D to CQ20 BAA Dated September 6, 2019
CQ20 Network Cross Functional Team (N-CFT) OBJECTIVES
Below are the N-CFT experimentation objectives for CQ20.
Objective Originator Objective
Cloud and Hybrid for tactical use
Identify capabilities that leverage cost savings and high-availability (globally) qualities of cloud technologies that can also be utilized in a contested or external connection denied environment. Data synchronization, survivability, and resilience are important, but getting the right data to the tactical decision maker is paramount.
Securing data vs. the Network (Tactical and Beyond)
Identify secure methods of preserving and protecting data on a single REL network so that only appropriate users and devices can access the maximum-security level of data and others without appropriate credentials or authority are denied.
Example: Document marked SECRET//REL US, X on a network with US, X, and Y will be accessible on US and X devices and users but not Y on a single network.
Background. We currently operate with segmented and separated networks based on security needs. This makes sharing data with mission partners difficult when data is generated on higher classification networks.
Example: A SECRET//REL X document that was produced on TS network must still go through a Cross-Domain Solution to reach X on a SECRET//REL X network.
Artificial Intelligence for Tactical Network Management
Identify artificial intelligence capabilities for Network Management at the tactical network providing Signal Solders tools capable of managing latency, quality of service, throughput, and notify users when problems arise.
Modeling and Simulation for Tactical Network Management
Identify network management modeling and simulation capabilities that provide network planners with the ability to preview changes and their effects to the network prior to implementation of changes.
Endpoint security for Internet of Battlefield Things
Identify technologies for endpoint security for Internet of Battlefield Things such that IoBT is hardened against tampering and adversarial compromise, continue operating under attacks, and provide bounded guarantees of performance.
NSA Approved Software Based CDS
Identify cross domain solution technologies that support multilevel security on SEC//REL, SIPR, and TS//SCI level networks
