SOCKS, CREW, WHITE

SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.

The basic material for the socks shall be a blend of 80% cotton +/- 5%, 20% nylon +/- 5%, plain knit leg and foot with a two by two mock rib knit top, with a terry tuft stitch on the inside of the high heel, sole, toe and ring toe. The top of the finished sock shall be finished with a well-defined, non-raveling welt. The top of the sock shall have rubber laid in every course. The minimum weight for each pair of socks shall be 2.2 ounces.

Sizes: the socks shall be provided in SMALL, MEDIUM, LARGE, and X-LARGE.

(A) Leg length: From the very top of the sock to the bottom of the heel.

(B) Welt length: The double fabric area on the top of the sock.

(C) Foot length: Measure from the back of the heel to the tip of the toe.

(D) Foot width: width from bottom of heel along the gore seam.

Label/marking. each sock shall a commercial fiber identification care and size label clearly and legibly stamped on the foot of each pair.

Barcode label.: All socks shall be banded in packages of three with an approved commercial band which will include item nomenclature, contract number, DLA logo and NSN and UPC barcodes. The contracting Officer will provide the successful contractor (s) the logo.

The contractor shall then submit to the contracting officer a sample band for approval. The barcodes shall be clearly legible and readable by a scanner. The bar coding element shall be a 13 digit National Stock Number (NSN). There shall be a 12 digit Universal Product Code (UPC) assigned for all NSNs by the government. The initial “UPC” must appear beneath the code. The bar codes for NSN and UPC shall be a medium to high density and shall be located so that they are completely visible on the item when it is folded and packaged as specified. The label’s location shall cause no damage to the item.

QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS. The contractor shall assure that the product meets all o requirements specified herein and are free of customer defects such as, any hole, cut, tear, slubby yarn, poorly shaped, not uniform in appearance, any spot, stain or foreign matter;

design, measurements or color not as specified, label incorrect, illegible or omitted, barcode label omitted or not readable by scanner.

PACKAGING/MARKINGS

Packaging, packing and markings shall be in accordance with ASTM-D-3951 (standard practice for commercial packaging). Shipping cartons shall be marked in accordance with paragraph 5.1.6.3 of ASTM D-3951 and shall include the contract number and item description.
