Informal Quotations #2024-004Q Title: Creative Assistant Request for Qualifications

1. Introduction

1.1. Summary

The City of Edinburg is excited to announce an exceptional opportunity for a talented Creative

Assistant(s) to join the team for an original musical production as part of the national initiative, "Arts for

Everybody." This initiative activates 18 cities from across the country to bring diverse and inclusive artistic experiences to communities. As a Creative Assistant, you will work closely with Theatre Director

Brisa Areli Munoz to contribute to this nationwide project, creating a unique musical score that reflects the cultural richness of Edinburg.

1.2. Background

The Rio Grande Valley was once a Covid hotspot, local artists applied to be part of a national effort to heal communities from the isolation and effects of Covid through the National League of Cities and One

Nation One Project. Edinburg was one of 19 cities selected throughout the Country, and the only City in

Texas to be selected. On July 27th all 19 selected cities will have a grand finale to the project where each community will answer the prompt of the project, "There's No Place Like Home".

City of Edinburg’s Department of Library & Cultural Arts, local artists, and health partners will showcase the community’s resilience, color, and artistic richness through inspiring message murals throughout the city and community-based art programs that promote health and well-being.

The City and its partners will also focus on establishing a strong artistic workforce through the establishment of the artist directory, entrepreneurship classes, and artistic opportunities and programming.

The art programs established will set a foundation for the programming at the City’s upcoming Art, Culture, and Event Center, scheduled to open in June 2024; the ACE Center will be in the heart of the

City’s festival grounds and will serve to showcase the community’s rich Mexican culture and traditions while embracing and celebrating its growing diversity. The initiative will culminate in an Art & Wellness festival that promotes health and well-being, social connectedness, and a sense of belonging.
