Cow Creek Salvage Area B.pdf

This is a sale advertisement document from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service, for a salvage timber sale opportunity. The Cow Creek Road Salvage Timber Sale B involves approximately 255 acres located north of County Road 326 and west of Black Prong Road within the central portion of the Cow Creek Wildfire area in the Black Prong Tract of Goethe State Forest in Levy County, Florida. The sale encompasses dead, dying, and green pine timber with harvest boundaries categorized into two areas: a Primary harvest area of approximately 227 acres designated for clearcut harvest, and a Contingency area of approximately 28 acres that will be monitored by the Forester-in-Charge to determine if additional harvesting is required. All harvest operations must commence within ten calendar days of contract execution. This salvage sale is being advertised simultaneously with Cow Creek Road Salvage Sales A and C, with the restriction that if a single bidder wins multiple sales, the bidder must forfeit all but one sale to the next highest bidder to ensure faster response times or adequate equipment availability for simultaneous harvesting.

Special environmental considerations include mandatory protection of waterbodies and red-cockaded woodpecker cluster areas, which will be marked by the Forester-in-Charge and reviewed during a mandatory site review with the successful bidder prior to operations commencing. Timber designated for removal will be identified by the Forester-in-Charge or authorized representative and may include scattered clusters of infected or dying trees. The buyer is not obligated to harvest non-merchantable timber or timber designated by the Forester-in-Charge as undersized or economically unviable for removal.
