About this file
This document is an Invitation to Bid (ITB) issued by the Town of Winter Park, Colorado, for the Hideaway Park Playground Improvements Project. The Town is soliciting sealed bids from qualified General Contractors to construct a custom playground, which includes demolishing the existing playground, installing new play structure elements, fencing, surfacing, and landscaping. The bid is scheduled to be posted on September 16, 2025, with bidder questions due by September 25, 2025, and final bids due by October 6, 2025, at 2:00 PM. The anticipated construction timeline involves demolition in Fall 2025 and construction starting in Spring 2026, with final completion and a ribbon cutting no later than June 20, 2026, to ensure the site is ready before the town's summer concert series.
The project requires contractors to provide an itemized bid sheet, demonstrate qualifications in concrete forming, crane operations, and play structure installation, and submit three sample projects of similar scale completed in the last five years. Contractors must obtain a Town business license, provide a 5% performance bond, and submit a liability insurance certificate. The Town reserves the right to reject any bids and select the proposal deemed most beneficial. The bid documents acknowledge that final construction plans will be issued after contractor selection, with potential adjustments for foundation design. The total project scope and specific budget are not explicitly stated, but the emphasis is on timely completion and meeting the town's specific playground improvement objectives.

The Town has completed design of a custom, iconic play structure, along with new playground surfacing, fencing, and landscaping. This solicitation is for the construction phase of the project, which includes demolition of the existing playground, installation of the new playground elements, site improvements, and project coordination with the Town and its design consultants.
