NAVAL OCEANOGRAPHIC OFFICE (NAVOCEANO)

OPTICS SYSTEM

1.0 BACKGROUND:

The Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO) requires a fully assembled (CTD) with Optics Profiler System with interfacing dual Transmissometer Sensors and dual Back Scatter Sensors for use on Hydrographic Survey Launchers operated off TAGS 60 Class OSVs to measure inherent optical properties, apparent optical properties, bioluminescence, and high-resolution current meter data.

2.0 DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENT:

NAVOCEANO has a requirement to procure equipment to measure inherent optical properties, apparent optical properties, bioluminescence, conductivity, temperature, depth, and high-resolution current meter data assembled in a custom designed Stainless Steel Deployment Cage as a complete profiler package.

The optics system must be capable of measuring reflectivity, diffuse attenuation, chlorophyll, spectral absorption, optical backscattering, bioluminescence potential, current vectors, and surface and in situ measurements. This system is co-located with the (CTD) base system. The optics system will include three (3) subcomponents, and all components associated with each of (1) In situ apparent optical properties hyperspectral profiler (ISAOP-HP), (2) Surface AOP hyperspectral surface acquisition system (SAOP-HSAS), and (3) In-situ inherent optical properties acquisition system (IS-IOPAS). Each subcomponent of the optics system is attached inside the deployment cage transmitting data for processing, integration, and display in real time on applicable systems through all ancillary equipment (data handler, sea and/or deck cable, and winch(s) as required).

The profiler software must acquire and process data using computations that process profiles for such parameters as: Salinity, Water Density, and Sound Velocity (SV) to calibrate the various platform sonar systems via the manufacturer software and interfaces with the Government SV Profile Generator (SVPG) software. This system must interface with hardware and software of other platform systems and sensors installed on all TAGS 60 Class OSVs and HSLs. The optics system must meet form-fit-function and backward compatibility with existing SBE 19Plus V2 CTD/Optics profilers.
