About this file

This document contains answers and clarifications provided in response to a Request for Information (RFI) for the "Clinical Labs Minor Improvements" project (Solicitation Number: 36C24224Q0381) at the Brooklyn VA Medical Center.

The key details are:

  • The existing lab flooring will not be removed but rather overlaid with new flooring. The lab cabinets will not be removed, but the lab islands and asbestos-containing benchtop surfaces shall be removed by the contractor.
  • The lab hood will only be capped off at the drop ceiling height, not the ceiling deck above the grid. The VA will strip the existing floor of paraffins prior to the new flooring installation, but the contractor is still required to complete any additional floor preparation.
  • All movable items in the room will be completed by the VA. The work will be performed Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm, with no weekend or overtime work required.
  • The contractor may use 4" rubber cove base instead of the specified integral base on the remaining walls.
