Statement of Need Summary
This Statement of Need (SON), dated 3 March 2026, establishes requirements for an air purification system to be installed in eight enlisted and officer dormitory buildings (547, 550, 555, 958, 964, 971, 972, and 973). The procurement supports Air Force mold prevention initiatives outlined in AFI 32-6000, Housing Management, by providing improved indoor air quality and reducing mold, fungus, viruses, bacteria, and germs in dormitory living spaces.
The required Air Purification System must be a wall-mounted electrical unit dedicated to single dormitory rooms, operating at 110-120 volts with maximum consumption of 10.25 amps or 13 watts. Physical dimensions are limited to 11 inches in height, 7 inches in width, and 4 inches in depth. The system must utilize Active Air Infusion technology capable of protecting a minimum of 500 square feet and eliminating 99 percent of all pathogens including viruses, bacteria, fungi, and mold with odor elimination. The unit must include a built-in filter and secure installation via a 3-prong outlet without a power cord.
