About this file

This document is a U.S. Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center (SFLC) specification for overhauling fire pumps used on the USCG Cutter Eagle and 160' WLIC vessels. The specification covers the complete overhaul process for a specific Goulds Pump Inc. centrifugal pump unit (NSN 4320-01-206-3745, Part Number 733E015), including a 30 HP Baldor electric motor. Key requirements include comprehensive disassembly, inspection, cleaning, parts replacement, testing, preservation, and packaging of the pump units.

The overhaul process mandates using new Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts, including replacing components like zirk fittings, pipe plugs, gland studs, and label plates. The specification details extensive testing requirements, including rotational, operational, and hydrostatic tests, with performance standards that must match original manufacturer specifications. The overhauled pump units must be painted red, preserved for two years of storage, individually packaged in wooden crates, and marked with specific identification information. The document includes detailed requirements for motor reconditioning, preservation techniques, packaging, and quality assurance processes, with multiple revision changes documented from 2009 to 2023.
