About this file
This is a Product Description Document for a Continuous Friction Meter Equipment (CFME) Runway Friction Tester required by Kingsley Field Air National Guard Base. The equipment must be mountable to a 1-ton or larger pickup truck, capable of reverse operation with the unit attached, and able to conduct friction tests while driving 15-60 MPH for winter maintenance activities on loose and/or packed snow. The unit cannot be a tow-behind trailer and must feature a raisable wheel when not in use. The testing equipment must operate without snow depth limitations and utilize customizable software compatible with the unique layout of Kingsley Field's runways and taxiways.
The system must include an Android-compatible tablet for data collection functions and automatically convert friction data to Runway Condition Reading (RCR) values electronically via Bluetooth transmission to the in-vehicle tablet. Data must be real-time uploaded to a custom website accessible to airfield users. The equipment must feature an easy-to-use, fully automated interface requiring minimal operator input, with results that cannot be manipulated and are independent of driver performance. The testing unit and associated software must comply with DAFMAN 13-204v2 and FAA AC 150/5320-12C, be accredited/certified under FAA 150-5200-30D, and meet OSHA standards for mechanical device safety with no exposed belts or pulleys.
