About this file

This document contains the specifications for bonded core reflective elements (ceramic beads) for use in a traffic paint contract solicitation in the state of South Dakota. The bonded core reflective elements must meet specific requirements for index of refraction, gradation, and compatibility with high build waterborne paint. The contract opportunity is for the provision of these beads for use throughout the state. No additional details are provided about the overall project, response dates, award information, or contract term.

Text version

Bonded Core Elements (surface-drop) - The bonded core reflective elements will contain either clear or yellow tinted microcrystalline ceramic beads bonded to the outer surface. The bonded core reflective elements will provide a 50/50 blend of dry to wet ratio of reflective element. All microcrystalline ceramic beads bonded to reflective elements will have a minimum index of refraction of 1.8 for dry retroreflectivity and 2.4 for wet retroreflectivity when tested using the liquid oil immersion method.

Bonded core reflective elements will be compatible with high build waterborne paint.

The gradation of the bonded core reflective elements will meet or be within the limits in the Element Gradation table below.
