MINIMUM PRODUCTS REQUIREMENTS FOR Intensive Care Booms
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS:
A. Obtain medical ICU booms all necessary mounting hardware from a single manufacturer.
2.2 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS INTENSIVE CARE BOOMS
A. Materials: Booms are to be constructed of steel, iron, passivate stainless steel, electroless nickel, extruded aluminum, powder coated external metal coverings.
B. Bearings for Nursing and Respiratory Boom - are to be roller bearing type. Ball and needle bearings or alternates will not be accepted.
C. Shelves: Are to be 430mm and attach to Multi-Functional Rail. Preset shelf heights are not acceptable.
D. Locking Drawers: Drawer must be included with ability to lock via a keypad or keycard mechanism.
E. Controls - controls of the Passive-Electro Pneumatic brakes should be able to be located on all 4 sides of the service head. All brakes should be releasable using a single hand
F. Brakes - Brakes must utilize electric - no friction, nitrogen, or instrument air allowed.
G. Vertical Articulation - Due to safety concerns, booms must be fixed height in the ICU setting.
H. Booms should be capable of mounting additional arms (Surgical Light, Flat Panel Suspension etc..) - in tandem fashion or sharing a single hub connection point in the ceiling to ensure the smallest impact and footprint on the ceiling system and interstitial components such as duct work and plumbing runs.
I. Pre-Engineered Mounting Structure - needs to be provided by vendor and must hold 4x specified weight capacity.
J. Modules should be capable of moving to all 4 sides of the service head to accommodate additional utilities such that the boom may accommodate future demands of the ICU.
K. Suction canisters (4 each) must have the ability to be attached underneath the respiratory service head to maintain a small footprint around the patient bed.
L. Wheeled trolley with storage drawers must attach underneath the nursing boom service head to maintain a small footprint around the patient bed.
This wheeled trolley must have the ability to move with the boom simultaneously. Utilization of an OEM storage cart is not clinically acceptable.
M. Installation cost for the booms must be in the boom manufacturer's quote and must be installed by a company trained technician.
