About this file
This document is a detailed technical specification for a Small Shelter design for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), intended for protecting high-speed camera equipment. The shelter must be a compact 3' x 3' x 3' white steel structure weighing under 9,000 pounds, with specific requirements including a 6" tall base structure, chain lifting ports or forklift points, and an offset entrance/door. Critical design features include a 6" x 6" window port accommodating a 12" x 12" x 2.5" ballistic glass panel, which must have adjustable fixtures to reposition or replace the glass if cracked, and 1/4" drop-over metal shields to protect against blast effects.
Key technical specifications mandate interior dimensions of at least 18" x 18" x 18", an upper ventilation port, two cable/power penetration ports, and a door with a single locking hasp and exterior handle. The shelter includes specialized ballistic glass mounting features such as water-resistant seals, dampening material to reduce shock transfer, and a protective cover for storage. These precise requirements align with the FBI's solicitation for custom manufactured, mobile, armored magazines designed to protect camera equipment, with a potential contract award under a brand name or equal procurement strategy.
