The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) announces its intention of a proposed partnership with the town of Ashburnham to acquire land or interest in land in said town as part of the FY2025 Cambridge Grant Forest Legacy Project.
DCR was awarded a Forest Legacy Program (FLP) protect grant from the Unites States Forest Service to acquire land in the town of Ashburnham.
Selected Grantee: Town of Ashburnham
Grant Amount: $220,000
Purpose of Grant Funding: The Forest Legacy Program project grant is awarded to DCR to fund acquisition of land included in an FLP project application. The Cambridge Grant Forest Legacy Project will protect 49 acres of land in the town of Ashburnham. DCR was awarded funding for this project and intends to provide funds to the town to make landowner payments for the acquisition of eligible lands.
Justification
DCR intends to partner in performance with Ashburnham to meet the following grant requirements:
• FLP grant funds must be used for the acquisition of eligible lands.
In order to accomplish the above, the town of Ashburnham will work with DCR and approved project partners.
The town of Ashburnham has assured DCR that they will collaborate with DCR in completing the tasks outlined in the grant in a timely fashion and in accordance with applicable law.
DCR finds that the selection of the town of Ashburnham, without an open public process, is fair and reasonable, necessary, efficient and supports both the purposes and timely disbursement of the grant funds.
