REQUEST FOR INFORMATION
DIGITIZATION AND DESTRUCTION OF MEDICAL RECORDS
Questions and answers as of 31 July 2020:
Q1. To determine what exactly is required under the National Fire Protection Association, are your records defined as a Vital Record or a Permanent Record?
A1. In a Federal records management context, the term "vital records" refers to records essential to an agency's continued operations during a national emergency. Medical records are not considered vital records. Under the disposition scheduled posted in the Federal Register these medical records are considered temporary records.
Q2. To comply with Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140.01, and DoD 8570.01-M, please let us know which IAT level certification is required. IAT Level I, IAT Level II, or IAT Level III?
A2. It is our understanding that no IAT level certification is required. If a Respondent disagrees, it may provide more information as to how it believes either IAT Level I, II, or III does apply to this RFI.
