QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS – EPOXY SERVICES C108947 -Building 60
Pre-Site Visit Questions
1. Is a bid bond or performance and payment bonds required? NO this is commercial service requirement.
2. Is there a wage determination for this project? NO this is commercial service requirement.
3. What are the work hours for this project? Is weekend work and after-hours work allowed? Normal working hours 9am to 6pm.
4. Are there any security requirements for accessing the site? Yes, all workers are subject to security screening.
5. Will there be an area to store materials and equipment? 1. Do you have drawings/blueprints of the locations listed for new epoxy flooring? Due to the Covid-19 pandemic we are unable to get drawings currently, it clearly says in the scope of work that there is 10,000 SF of flooring.
6. Do you have photos of the locations listed for new epoxy flooring? Photos are attached from Site Visit.
7. Specifications line 5 section I. Specifies "2 coats epoxy floor system” Is it the government’s intention to use the 2 coats of epoxy floor as a waterproofing solution? Yes.
8. Specifications section I lines 3 specifies 56 ducts and poles? Can you provide drawings, photos or details of these floor penetrations for consideration and clarification? Yes, photos are attached from Site Visit.
9. Do you have a detail of this penetration and sealing requirements? All penetrations are to be sealed to create a watertight seal.
10. Specifications section I lines 4 specifies (6) 4” high beams across dormers to seal water? can you provide drawings, photos of type of 4” beams you're requesting? This is a 4-inch metal curb that will be attached to the floor in between the windows (dormers) to create a watertight seal. At this time, I will not be able to get drawings due to limited access to the campus.
11. Do you have a detail of this installation and sealing requirements? We want a watertight seal to prevent flooding.
12. Specifications section I lines 1 specifies mobilization will be in 2 parts. Yes
13. Please clarify if your intention is to move the furniture to one side of the room, then provide the flooring installation to 1 side & then move furniture to the other side and perform the 2 Nd and and final half? @ 5000Sf per half? If yes, will there be a delay/disruption between the 2 halves? or can the work be accomplished back to back without delays/ disruption? There is usually a drying period, its different for different products.
14. Do you have drawing or photos of Building 60? Yes – Please see attached
15. Do you have drawing or photos of "penthouse” location of building 60? Yes
16. Is there a preferred flooring system or Technical Data Sheet you would like for contractors to adhere or an "or equal” epoxy product? Contractor Shall provide a commercial grade 2-part epoxy (gray) in color.
17. What are the Material Quality Standards? Should be commercial grade.
18. What are the warranty requirements and expectation for the new floor system performance? 2 year on labor and 20 year on product.
Post Site – Visit Question
1. Does the entrance door to the attic need to have any curbing placed around it? This has not been decided and facility manager will make the decision.
2. Does Safety Yellow need to be painted on any of the curbing. Yes
3. On the 4inch beam that will be going across the dormer, is there a specification for the beam and how it is to be attached. Would a 4” solid metal stud bracketed to the wall work? This would be a 4inch tall X 2inch bend on either aluminum or stainless so it can be attached to the floor and epoxied to prevent leaking. Please provide a recommended manufacturer and product type for the 2-part epoxy coating in order to meet the government’s basis of design. The Project Officer stated material from a Home Depot or Lowes is unacceptable. Please confirm. Please go to Granger.com for a good commercial epoxy sealer.
4. Please confirm that the first 4” of wall surrounding the floor is also to have the epoxy coating as well. The SOW states only epoxy the floor. All curbing must be sealed with epoxy.
5. Please confirm the epoxy material must be a low VOC. Yes, low VOC as possible.
6. Please confirm that the contractor will be able to park at the building. Yes, parking will be available.
7. Per the Solicitation, please confirm that a performance & payment bond is not required.
No bonds are required as this is a commercial service requirement.
