About this file
This is a Specification Document for equipment procurement by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Research Service (ARS) Administrative and Financial Services division. The USDA-ARS Southeast Watershed Research Lab (SEWRL) in Tifton, Georgia requires a contractor to procure one brand new 120 horsepower 6 Series Tractor to support research projects involving planting, harvesting, and crop rotation studies in the Atlantic Coastal Plain region. The current tractor, nearly twenty years old, requires frequent repairs that constrain research timelines and operational integrity.
The tractor specifications include a comprehensive list of required features and components: passenger seat, 3-pin power socket, internal rear view mirror, rear hitch remote control (left and right-hand), toolbox, leather-wrapped steering wheel, front and rear roller blinds, rear window washer and wiper, manual telescopic mirrors, flange-type rear axle, 4WD unsuspended front axle, adjustable steel wheels, specific tire sizes (460/85R38 rear and 380/85R24 front), Category 3 hitch components with ball ends, rear PTO at 540/1000 rpm, 114 liter/minute hydraulic pump, three mechanical SCVs, AutoTrac-ready system with wiring harness, G5 universal display with AutoTrac touchscreen, JDLink M modem with 4G capability, StarFire universal receiver with one-year SF-RTK license, 14V/250A alternator, multi-power outlet strip with six additional 12V outlets, and select front hitch package with 4-ton capacity and ethernet socket. All brand-name or equivalent products are acceptable. Equipment delivery and operator training shall occur at SEWRL located at 2316 Rainwater Road, Tifton, Georgia 31793, or a nearby research farm within a 10-mile radius. The period of performance is to be determined. Procurement considerations emphasize that with regular annual maintenance, the tractor should provide 20+ years of service life, and the contracting officer should evaluate parts availability and regional service support when making the purchase.
