Subject: Request for Information (RFI) Number BZ-2025-10 Response Due Date: August 18, 2025
Introduction The University of California, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) is conducting market research to identify sources that possess the capabilities and experience necessary to deliver a high-capacity diesel forklift for our Transportation and Receiving departments before the end of LBNL’s fiscal year on September 30, 2025. Due to budgetary constraints, delivery before the end of the fiscal year is non-negotiable.
Requirements The following are the mandatory minimum requirements for the forklift that LBNL requires:
● Lifting capacity of 17,500 - 22,000 lbs.
● Diesel engine with sufficient power to travel 16% uphill grades while carrying a full load
● Enclosed cab
● Lights and blinkers
● Side shifting
● Power fork positioning
● 6' forks
● Be available for delivery by mid-September at the latest
Per LBNL’s Fleet Policies and Procedures, best practice and preference is acquisition of a new vehicle. A used vehicle may only be considered if warranted as new, with mandatory delivery of safety inspections and certifications along with full maintenance records.
NAICS Code and Size Standard The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code for this acquisition will be 333924 (Industrial Truck, Tractor, Trailer and Stacker Machinery Manufacturing). The corresponding small business size standard is 900 or fewer employees.
Instructions Respondents who can deliver a forklift capable of meeting the requirements above should email the LBNL Procurement Representative Brian Zatkow at bzatkow@lbl.gov with relevant company and vehicle information. Responses must include the following:
• Manufacturer of the forklift including country of origin
• Current location of forklift (is it within US territory)
• Small business status under the NAICS code above
Budgetary estimates are welcome but not necessary. All responses must be submitted by email no later than 3:00pm Pacific on Monday August 18, 2025.
