SNAME (Structure/Regulatory) - Upgrade existing fire pump to a new self-priming pump sized meet supply/demand for additional fire stations located farthest from fire pump (aft fire station located next to notch). The new pump sizing would need to be calculated to provide a water stream that reaches a minimum of

60’ with hose nozzle set on straight stream with one other station in use at the same time. The pipe friction loss, fluid dynamic equation for pump sizing would need to be calculated to place an order for a new self-priming fire pump to be placed. This system should also have a cross-over pipe to the new bilge dewatering piping/pump system mentioned in the next section (10).

C D E F G H I J K

17 High Safety New Bilge System

SNAME (Structure/Regulatory) - Upgrade of a non-existent bilge dewatering system for the entire vessel. Right now, there is a dewatering line heading aft that is part of the piping of the fire pump and sea chest. (see attached picture) But, it is cut off at the aft crane void and there are no bilge suction stations located anywhere in the lower voids of the vessel. Design new bilge suction system with new bilge suction piping located in aft voids and working spaces connected to new self-priming bilge pump in engine room. Discharge can be routed into bow thruster tunnel or through exterior void space to starboard side of engine room and fitted to side shell penetration. New bilge suction system will need be constructed of hot dipped galvanized pipe, have HDG rose box strainers at each suction point, bilge level alarms located at each bilge suction routed to an alarm panel located in doghouse, designed with either a bilge suction manifold or reach rod deck fittings located on the main deck to allow for suction from selected spaces and local and remote pump controls.
