2. SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION FOR BRAND NAME BASED ON

CONTRACTOR’S UNIQUE QUALIFICATIONS OR NATURE OF THE

ACQUISITION

NFPC utilizes specific foundry material for their manufacturing process. This material provides NFPC with ability to continue mold making process without defects. It is crucial in the mold making production that the process be done with the chances of defects reduced as much as possible. One of the ways defects are reduced is by using products that are manufactured by CeramSource, Inc. The CeramSource brand has exhibited the ability to perform at high temperature without conducting heat and withstanding the repeated thermal shock the foundry puts on them. This high-temperature stability is needed to produce molds without defects. Defects in casting could cause the castings to be thrown out due to the imperfections. This would cause significant cost impacts to the Government as there would be a duplication of material and labor to recreate the casting.

In addition, there would be schedule impacts as additional time would have to be spent on another pour.
