The additional EOD-9N Bomb Suits are the current version of what ATF uses. The “N” designation is the current version of the EOD-9 bomb suit. This makes the suits interchangeable without additional training and streamlines the maintenance and repair cycles for the suits. For safety, consistency and uniformity of appearance, it is required that all ATF’s Bomb Technicians wear identical gear.

5. A statement demonstrating the unique qualifications of the proposed contractor or the nature of the action requiring use of the authority.

The MED-ENG EOD-9 is issued to all ATF Bomb Technicians. US Military has completely adopted the MED ENG Bomb Suits following extensive review and testing, all of the ATF Bomb Technicians are currently trained on the MED ENG EOD 9 Suit in the Basic Hazardous Devices School Certification and receive additional training and testing in the MED ENG EOD 9 Suit every three years at HDS Recertification. Currently all ATF Bomb Technicians have MED EOD 9 bomb suits and helmets. This facilitates and enhances suit compatibility (inter-changeability of parts and components) and interoperability between ATF Bomb Technicians and other Bomb Squad in the United States.
