About this file
This Brand Name Justification and Approval document from the Defense Microelectronics Activity (DMEA) supports the procurement of 60,000 Hirose IC1K-68RD-1.27SFA(71) PCMCIA connectors through a new firm-fixed-price contract. The connectors are required by the USAF for data transfer devices to transfer mission, maps, and maintenance data on several aircraft platforms.
The document establishes that Hirose Electric is the sole manufacturer of these specific PCMCIA connectors, with three authorized distributors identified through market research: Mouser Electronics, Sager Electrical Supply, and Digi-key, all classified as other than small businesses. The procurement will be posted on SAM.gov for full and open competition among these authorized distributors. Pricing will be determined fair and reasonable based on the Independent Government Estimate (IGE) and previous purchases. The specific dollar value is redacted in the document.
