BRAND NAME JUSTIFICATION: SYSTEMS WITH RELIABILITY (SWR) LIMITED

PARTNERSHIP (LP)

The National Reconditioning Center (NRC), located in Grandview, MO is requesting procurement through SWR LP and any of their authorized

United States distributors or resellers.

Basis for Request:

The NRC intends to purchase thirty (30) of the SWR 4-Way RF Power

Dividers. The 4-Way Power Dividers are part of a standardized antenna assembly that the NOAA Weather Radio (NWR) system uses. The NWR is a system whose primary mission is the protection of life and property.

The SWR brand Power Dividers have been through extensive field testing

(qualification and environmental testing) by the National Weather

Service to prove their long term reliability.

This product is proprietary to SWR and there are no suitable substitutes available. The WRX-PD4W-DFNF is required because the power dividers being procured must be the same in form, fit, and function as well as environmentally compatible with the other NWR antenna elements already installed at fielded sites.

Acceptance of any item other than the SWR brand would require additional extensive and expensive testing and qualifications. The

National Weather Service would incur a significant cost to evaluate, validate and implement an alternative to the SWR brand of Power

Dividers.

Technical Requirements:

1. Power Divider Description: WRX power divider, 4 way, equal power distribution, 7-16 DIN female input to (4) type N female outputs.

2. Frequency Range: 162.400 - 162.550 MHz, VSWR: 1.1:1 or better

3. Impedance 50 ohms

4. Power Handling Capacity: 1.1 Kilowatt average RF power rated, 10

Kilowatt power surge capacity, without sustaining damage.

5. Physical Configuration: Cylindrical design based around 1 5/8 inch copper pipe, output ports configured (4) N type female outputs down, towards 7/16 female DIN input on opposite end of tube, (2) stainless steel mounting brackets with galvanized saddle clamps and hardware, for a 1-1/2" to 3-1/2" OD pipe/tower leg included.

6. Maximum dimensions: 27 inches tall by 6 inch outer diameter

7. Maximum weight: 15 pounds

8. Environmental Requirements

a. Weather protection: Power divider shall be completely sealed for full time outdoor operation in all-weather environments, including rain, snow, hail, ice and wind.

c. Humidity: Shall continue to operate without degradation at

95% Relative Humidity

(Verified per MIL-STD-202F, method 103B, condition B)
